Many FH Staff Members also Have a Sponsor Story

Today’s Child Sponsor Story comes from one of our own staff members, Stephani Liggins.

Stephani’s Sponsor Story

“I am an FH employee working in the department that focuses primarily on Child Sponsorship,” explains Stephani. In that role, she helps find sponsors for children at special events, like concerts.

“As the Acquisition Support Specialist, I monitor the information provided in each child’s profile. As we’d print out the available profiles and get them ready to ship to various artists’ sponsorship events, I kept coming across the profile of Sarai, from Peru.”

“Each time I would see her profile, I’d hope that someone else would fall in love with her sleepy eyes and messy curls, as I had. I believed that they, naturally, would sponsor her immediately.”

But Now Sarai has a Sponsor

“Time passed, and I’d continually see that adorable sleepy little face on Sarai’s profile going out to yet another event,” says Stephani. In all that time, no one had sponsored little Sarai.

“I took it as a sign and decided – finally – to sponsor her myself.”

Stephani’s only regret, she says now, is that she didn’t sponsor Sarai sooner.

Sponsorship is Important

Little Sarai became Stephani’s third sponsored child. She had already sponsored two other girls, including one from Nicaragua.

“Blanca was a beautiful little girl from Nicaragua who is now a beautiful young woman graduating from high school.” explains Stephani. Blanca’s parents had passed away, and she lived with other relatives.

“Her Albinism made her stand out from others in her community, but her family cherished her uniqueness,” says Stephani.

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” Those words from 1 John 3:18 describe why so many FH employees are also active child sponsors.
